Improvements are underway for one of the very important Interstate 4 (I-four) interchanges in downtown Orlando. Colonial Drive will function a single-level city interchange under I-4. A new Texas U-flip will allow drivers going north on Garland Avenue to access southbound Hughey Avenue and the new westbound I-4 entrance ramp without having to get on Colonial Drive. The new ramp is 2 lanes broad and expands to 4 lanes at the backside for easier entry onto S.R. 434 and to alleviate backups onto the interstate during periods of excessive visitors volume. Additionally, the interchange may have key safety options, corresponding to longer and wider entrance and exit ramps to enhance entry to the interstate and accommodate more vehicles.
